We often talk about truth — “Satyam” in Sanskrit — and say that discovering it is the ultimate goal in life. Yet, we tend to misunderstand truth by equating it simply with statements of true or false, or with honesty versus lies. The question then becomes: what is truth, really? If you take any topic and examine it deeply, debating whether it exists or doesn’t, whether it is right or wrong, you eventually arrive at something that can no longer be argued or denied.
This point beyond debate is the core essence of the subject. No matter where you begin, the process of inquiry leads to the same kind of ultimate essence. That essence — the part that remains after everything else is stripped away — is what we call truth.
